The UOMA beauty black magic metallic lipstick is the BEST metallic lipstick formula in the beauty industry. Just as I thought I was over metallic lips, these came along in April 2019 and changed my mind.

Off the back of my UOMA Carnival collection post I was surprised that most of the questions in my DMs were about the metallic lips! So lets take a closer look at the range.

Available in 6 permanent and 2 limited edition shades, ranging from hot pink to deep burgundy – these are a proper lipstick. The formula glides on smoothly with opaque coverage in one swipe thanks to the addition of brazil nut oil, it also uses binding pigments to ensure lasting power. When it starts to wear away it doesn’t leave any tell-tale signs, instead leaving a subtle stain.

Housed in weighted red casing these are sure to make a statement when you go to apply. I love that the same amount of attention has gone into the outer packaging too-it is inspired by the founder fusing together her Nigerian culture and love for British talent as they are designed by a London based artist.

The shades are as below:

Savage- Brighter blue based metallic red

On Fire- Deeper classic metallic red

Lady of Gold- A true metallic champagne gold without any yellow.

Poise- A true metallic burgundy

Mother- A metallic brown with purple toned reflect.

Allure- Vibrant metallic purple

I think of these as UOMA’s secret weapon, they fly under the radar among the range but once you take a closer look at them you see just how special they are. Don’t be afraid of the metallic glitter on your lips. I was worried you would be able to feel the texture, however it is not gritty and imparts a metallic shine as opposed a glitter lip as the bullet may suggest. These are nothing like the chalky metallic matte formulas we’ve seen countless times before.

How to use them:

I prefer applying these with a lip liner for more control, However these are just as good on their own or even as a shine boosting topper over lipstick.

In the bullet these lipsticks look like sequinned velvet, somewhat like the the texture of Lisa Eldridge’s matte velvet lipsticks.

My favourite shade has to be Poise, Sir John actually used this on the eyes in a NYE look he did too! I can see Lady of Gold being beautiful as an eyeshadow as well.
